Samsung could be a local music store. Avis could be a place where you bought drones on the internet and SpaceX could be a website dedicated solely to Astronauts. The thing that defines these businesses are not their name per see what they do so don’t ever think if you don’t have to come up with some perfectly clever name to succeed as a Blogger I promise.

Having continually updated posts they’re just not optimized for what’s gonna end up happening. If you start with a Squarespace or Wix you’re gonna end up going back to WordPress anyway so just start there. Here’s how you do this: First you should start doing keyword research; see there are all sorts of tools like Google Keyword Planner, Ahref, Semrush and etc. You can check using any of these tools what people are looking for and write about that.

Now this doesn’t mean you only have to post things that people are searching for. You can create your own sort of unique content when making money blogging you just need to follow the 80/20 rule 80% of the content that you create should be that things that people are searching for and problems that they’re trying to solve and 20% should be where you flex on them a little bit and tell them a little bit more about you and blog about the things that you want to write about it.

There are lots of ways to get readers to your blog like Pinterest, Facebook, Google SEO, YouTube, guest blogging, email drips, forums, Snapchat and I’m sure a dozen more that I haven’t listed here.The biggest tip that I can give you right off the bat is to start with one traffic source I know there are lots of entrepreneurs like Gary Vaynerchuk telling you that you need to be everywhere and be on every social media and be on every platform but the truth is that’s kind of a one-man show what ends up happening with most people is when they try to be everywhere they usually end up just sucking at everything that’s why we tell my reader to try to instead of sucking at everything master 1 are two of these things. 

So the next question you should probably have is how do I find the perfect traffic source for my blog. There are tons of different factors to consider here including the competition type of platform demographics of your target market and more so to make this simple here are my thoughts on the top 5 traffic sources.

1. Facebook:

Facebook has the most users of really any social platform but it also comes with the highest competition and Facebook has recently made algorithmic changes that really don’t feature blog posts anymore. It’s very few and far between that you’ll read blogs much where the content is geared towards memes and video content. Things that just don’t blog posts Facebook groups, however, are still going very strong and it’s actually a great place to meet like-minded bloggers but it might not be the best source for driving traffic to a website but that being said. I wouldn’t write it out because those groups can be so valuable especially to beginners starting off. 

2. Instagram:

Instagram follows a similar trajectory as Facebook where it has a high amount of users but it also has a high amount of competition and the thing is it is a purely visual platform yeah you can write captions in the description but really if you’re not creating dope images you’re not gonna get anywhere on Instagram so the niches you want to be in to succeed on Instagram are going to be mainly visual things like travel health and fashion work really well because they’re visually stimulating unfortunately and something to keep in mind it’s kind of stupidly hard to get people off of Instagram and on to your email list or on to your blog posts are over to your products people tend to stay inside of the app and Instagram is designed it that way. 

3. Google:

Google is similar to Facebook and Instagram in that it has high competition but it comes with one big difference and that difference is that it’s a search platform. YouTube is an entirely completely different animal then them all.  It is the highest barrier to entry by far because most people do not want to get on camera and I understand why this barrier to entry provides actually an easy way to connect with your audience build a following and drive them back to your blog and make purchases with them but again comes with a high barrier to entry because shooting videos is difficult and very time-consuming so if you’re extraordinarily good-looking gorgeous or like me and don’t mind being on camera, YouTube might be a great option for you. 

5. Pinterest:

Last but not least our favorite traffic source for bloggers is Pinterest. It is also like YouTube and Google search engine so there’s that opportunity for organic traffic but unlike Google, it doesn’t take as long to get results. Pinterest does end up being our number one traffic source for bloggers if you’re in almost any niche but you should definitely give a try to Pinterest.

1. Affiliate marketing:

I placed affiliate marketing to the first place in my list because it really is my number one monetization strategy at the current stage of my blog.

When your blog is new and the daily page view numbers are still low, it is hard to rely on advertising. Many advertising networks will not even let you join before your blog reaches 10K page views per month. While with affiliate networks, usually there are no such requirements.

A wide variety of affiliate products to recommend to your readers is available on Amazon Associates. After applying for Amazon affiliate membership, you will get access to generating links for any product you’d like to recommend and if anyone buys the product after going to Amazon by your link, you will receive a commission from the sale. % of the commission depends on the product category, on your monthly sales volumes, etc., you can read about this in detail on Amazon’s help center.

Amazon was an example of a company which works with affiliates directly. But Amazon is big and can afford this. Many other advertisers prefer to work with affiliates through a third party – affiliate networks.

The most popular and trusted affiliate networks are ShareASale, CJ. These are networks with a wide variety of available products. 

2. Ads:

Most of the newbie bloggers start with Google Adsense ad blocks as it’s a network that usually accepts sites with quite low traffic. 

There are so many better-paid ways to monetize your site!

If you get into the same trouble with Adsense, there are other networks. Media.net serves contextual ads, just like Google Adsense, but it’s definitely easier to get approved by this network and there are no high traffic requirements.

You can also check such networks as Adversal (takes publishers Min 2,500 page views a month), Infolinks (mainly works with in-text CPM ads, which means your banner spaces will be available for other networks).

When your monthly traffic reaches 25,000 sessions, you can try to apply to the Mediavine advertising network. They pay anywhere between $10 and $20 per thousand sessions (depends on the site, niche, season, etc.).

3. Direct sales – ads and sponsored posts:

Some media companies connect bloggers with advertisers to find the best fit for sponsored posts. Check out the networks:

  • Pollinate (minimum 20K page views per month, blogs older than 6 months);
  • Tapifluence – a platform that connects bloggers (with all their social media accounts) with brands and provides an influencer marketing automation solution for both sides.

With time, when you feel like a real expert in some topic, you could try to contact potential advertisers directly. Don’t be shy when you present your blog to them – there are no rules, and if it doesn’t go well the first time, you will learn from your mistakes and find the perfect formula of a pitch to impress your advertisers.

4. Create and sell your own products:

You can create you product and sell it to your visitors. I know that those bloggers who reach some kind of limit in their affiliate income, usually find a new inspiring source of income in creating their own products. Digital products, such as eBooks, online courses, conferences, as well as some physical products with the brand name of the blogger in most cases bring up to 50% of their income.
